so i got home from school today and went up to my room. i changed out of my nasty uniform and was enjoying some peace and solitude before my brothers and my mom got home. a few minutes later they burst in the door and run upstairs to my room as Vance yells, “hi honey!” They’re all just staring at me with these crazed looks in their eyes so, needless to say, i’m slightly concerned. they then all launch into a story at the same time and this is their initial synopsis:
“Okay so Morgan, you’re going to think we’re all crazy but this is what happened. Sydney died this morning. And Nicholas Cage killed his girlfriend and is in the trunk” (Sydney was our bird). *laughter* my mother was LAUGHING. the look on my face must have betrayed how insane i thought they were when she yells “It’s not funny! I’m not laughing because the bird died. okay so Sydney died this morning and I was heartbroken. So then i happened to be at this christmas ornament store today and I saw this gorgeous bird in a cage. He was a peach colored love bird and he’s up for adoption! I told the boys when they got in the car and they agreed that we should go adopt him. And I thought we should give me a Christmasy name so Cole suggested Nicholas. But then Wes yelled ‘Nicholas Cage’. *more insane laughter* Well, when i asked the shopkeeper about him she said he had kind of a…..spotted past.. Apparently his girlfriend bird laid eggs but they were too young to mate so he killed her. But he’s actually really nice bird! He was young and didn’t know what he was doing and he wasn’t ready for parenthood. Don’t look at me like that, he’s adorable.”
I then just walked out of my room and they all, again, erupted into a chorus of laughter. They then apologized and begged me to come back in and talk. So I did and they told acknowledged how crazy they must have seemed.
So we sat there and chatted for a few minutes when Vance then says, “Oh! and today at the dog groomer they had a new little kitten for adoption! He’s cuter than ours. You can stop by there later and play with him.”
This is what I came home to, today. The End.
